I started with Cakewalk Pro Audio 9 when i was a little kid, continued with Cakewalk Sonar and still use Cakewalk by Bandlab as a professional musician and producer.

I'd be forever in debt to anyone with working recommendations to make "External MIDI Clock Sync" work. I don't understand how any user is able to make an "External MIDI Clock Sync" work within Cakewalk/Sonar. I've tried going into the preferences and changing every MIDI Clock Sync switch I've found in the documentation without success. Without having a robust external clock sync, these plugins are basically useless and I've been forced to switch to Ableton Live in spite of the fact that I jut don't like it. Many of which I call Chord Smart Plugins like NI's Electric Sunburst and many more. I do this so I can take advantage of the huge collection of VSTs which I have.

To be fair, I do have a very unique setup in that I use a Korg PA4x as one of my MIDI Controllers and the PA4x is ALWAYS used as the primary clock. As most of what I do is live this was a tragedy for me.Īs "Matrix Mode is still available, I don't understand why the "External MIDI Sync is no longer working properly. Unfortunately with one of the releases a couple of years ago, the MIDI Clock Sync seemed to quit working properly.

I could not agree more! Since Sonar (aka Cakewalk) became available almost 2 decades ago it has been my goto DAW. The current devs seem to be listening to the community. Plus, Cakewalk has very frequent quality of life updates. It was well worth the money then and it's crazy that it's free now. I've bought the upgrade every year since version 2 XL up to and including Sonar Platinum until it went free as Cakewalk by BandLab. I love trying and finding new and better software and I've yet to find anything that works better for me than Cakewalk.

I've been using Cakewalk Sonar since 2004 and I've been experimenting with other DAWs for a very long time. I do some work in a studio that only uses Pro Tools and I find it feels backwards and unintuitive but I know enough to call my self Pro Tools proficient. I colab with a few other people so I often work with other DAWs. I feel like I don't have to fight with it to make it do what I want. I have Presonus Studio One 4, Ableton Live, Pro Tools 11, Reaper, Logic Pro X, LUNA, Ive tried Cubase but I down't own it, and Cakewalk.Ĭakewalk is the only DAW that doesn't annoy me.
